THAILAND - MYANMAR ITINERARY 15D14N

Day 01 - Arrive in Bangkok via flight

 

 

Upon arrival, you clear the customs formalities yourself. When you leave the airport terminal, please proceed to GATE B or GATE C and look for Door 6 where our English-speaking guide is waiting for you and holding a sign with your names on it. Embark the comfortable vehicle for transferring (approx. 45mins) to your hotel for check-in and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 02 - Bangkok

 

Wake up early this morning, and visit Wat Po (one of the oldest temples in Bangkok) in time to experience the monks’ morning chanting ritualFollowed by a short but exciting ride on Bangkok’s Tuk Tuk to Royal Grand Palace - the most important and impressive royal palace in Thailand and do not miss the mysterious Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image in Thailand. 


Then, board an exclusive hot ride “007” long tailed boat to have a first-hand experience of Bangkokian’s local life style along the small canals of Thonburi. The water journey passing through Wat Arun or called Temple of Dawn, one of the cities earliest temples, now often used as a symbol of the city & the country. 


Early evening, drive to China Town for local street food tasting. There are thousands of street food stalls which make Bangkok one of the yummiest town for visitors.

Day 03 - Bangkok

 

This morning, drive 1.5-hour to visit the Railway Track Market. It's a kind of unique experience as you will see the vendors quickly pack up their stores as the train approaches the tracks. 

 

Then continue to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, stepping back in time to experience the traditional way farmers would trade their produce. The canals are lined with boats that are paddled by local women and piled high with vegetables, fruit and even souvenirs for the tourists. Sit back and soak up the atmosphere as the locals go about their daily life and entertain you with their haggling techniques.

Day 04 - Bangkok / Chiang Mai via flight

 

Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 9:30 a.m. Transfer (approx. 45mins) to Survanabhumi Airport for flight to Chiang Mai.

 

Arrive in Chiang Mai, an English-speaking guide will be there and meet you outside of the Exit Gate in the airport. Embark the car and transfer (approx. 10mins) to your hotel for check-in.

Day 05 - Chiang Mai

 

Today, visit to Wat Suan Dok where ashes of former Kings of Chiang Mai and the Royal Family are kept. Take a 20 minutes rickshaw ride to a local temple and have an opportunity to talk with the monk about all aspects of his religion. 

 

Lunch break by experience with one of Chiang Mai specialties dishes - Khao Soi at an authentic local restaurant.   

Late this afternoon, you will visit Ruamchook Market with a local chef and have a private hands-on cooking experience at his Organic Farm. Then, enjoy the dishes your have prepared during the cooking time

Day 06 - Chiang Mai

 

Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby around 8:00 a.m. Transfer to an Elephant Camp. Our acquaintance with these gentle beasts is made in feeding them bananas, which is followed by bath time in the River Ping. A perfect sets for some spectacular photos. An interesting demonstration of the elephant’s logging skill follows. Next you have an exciting trek on elephant back through the jungle and then board bamboo rafts for an hour relaxing float down the river. 

 

Followed by a visit Lisu village, Akha village, the most beautiful women's head wears, decorated with assorted coins, shell and animal's fur. Visit Lahu tribe, very expert in hunting. 

 

End your trip at Palong Village where the local villagers wear beautiful costume, women wear belt, made of rattan, sometimes lacquer with silver.

Day 07 - Chiang Mai / Mandalay via flight

 

Take the flights to Mandalay, Myanmar. 

 

Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer (approx. 60mins) to town. On our way, visit the highly revered Mahamuni Pagoda; a gold leaf hammering craft-shop, Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda, renowned as the World's largest book for its 729 stone slabs containing the entire Buddhist scriptures, and if time permits, visit Mandalay Hill for a view over the city and Ayeyarwaddy River.

Day 08 - Mandalay

 

Amarpura, Ava and Sagaing are all former capitals of the old kingdom of Myanmar. Start with a transfer to Amarpura, the 18th century capital where the country’s largest monastery is located; Maha Ghandayon. Next we visit to the magnificent teak bridge of U Bein, which is over 200 years old. It is the longest teak bridge in the world. 


Cross the Ayeyarwaddy River and head for the picturesque Sagaing HillEnd the day with a visit to another ancient capital, Ava, which was the capital of Myanmar before Amarapura. Board a horse carriage and ride to the wooden Bagaya Monastery and the remains of the Royal Palace.

Day 09 - Mandalay / Bagan via flight

 

After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and transfer(approx. 60mins) to airport for morning flight to Bagan,  the fairy land with a thousand of temples.

 

First stop is Shwezigon Pagoda, one of the four most significant buildings in Bagan which served as the centre of reflection and prayer. 


Next, visit the Htilominlo pagoda, famed for its original fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations which are remarkably well preserved. The temple stands 46m high and houses four Buddhas on the lower and upper floors. Then, visit the Dhammayangyi pagoda, Bagan’s largest temple. And enjoy sunset from one of the most scenic spots in town.

Day 10 - Bagan

 

Early morning, take to the skies as you fly over the vast plains of Bagan in a hot air balloon. Witness thousands of temples that were built between the 11th and 13th century from a bird’s eye view. Enjoy unrivaled views from above during the sunrise.

 

Visit Mount Popa, considered as the sacred home of the spirits, visit Taung Kalat, the temple which sits atop like a plug in the volcano and holds significance in Myanmar’s history and religion. Then, visit the colorful old religious center of Salay - home to a large number of monasteries and colonial buildings. The final stop is Yoke-Sone-Kyaung, famous for its spectacular wood carvings. 

 

Early this evening, enjoy the Dandaree Show performance at the magnificent Bagan Golden Palace

Day 11 - Bagan / Heho via flight 

 

Take the morning flight to Heho. Then, spend an hour overland transfer to Myanmar’s second largest lake, Inle where is famous for its unique leg-rowers. This unusual style of rowing requires remarkable balance and definitely takes some practice.

 

Enjoy a boat trip on the lake and observe the beautiful surroundings en route to floating gardens.  Lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the southwest of the lake where the Indein Pagoda Complex is situated.

 

Take a small covered path from the Pa O Tribe Village to a monastery and the very impressive ruins of hundreds of ancient pagodas, some hidden under vegetation. The main stupa-area on the top of the hill offers breathtaking views over the surroundings and into the valley with the lake in the far distance.

Day 12 - Inle Lake

 

This morning, visit the rural but bustling Five-Day Market in Mine Thaut. Observe the vibrant atmosphere with local people in colorful costumes trading farm products such as vegetables, fruits, dried tea leaves as well as livestock. Continue with a boat trip to the weaving village of Inpawkon and onwards to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, which houses sacred Buddha images. 

 

Extended visit to Ywama floating village to explore the Padaung Long Neck Women who are wearing brass rings around their necks, arms and legs.

Day 13 - Inle Lake / Heho / Yangon via flight

 

Take the flights to Yangon via Bangkok. Although the city of Yangon has grown to accommodate over four million people, it has retained its former charm. 


Then, visit to the Sule Pagoda. Originally an Indian structure, it is according to legend over 2,500 years old. Lunch will be served.

 

After that, visit the Bogyoke Market then head to the Indian quarter for a different view of the city. Extended visit to the Kyaukhtatgyi pagoda, known for the reclining Buddha that measures 70m in length.

Day 14 - Yangon

 

Wake up early for tai-chi with a local practitioner, then head to the Shwedagon Pagoda and join the locals at the tea shop for Myanmar’s most famous breakfast, the Monthinkhar. Then join the Yangonese in another important daily ritual – making offering to the temple

 

Continue your journey with a walking trip along Pansodan Street and admire the colonial style General Post Office and High Court.

 

Stroll further towards the river and observe the City Hall and Customs House while passing religious pagodas and well maintained parks. Finish your trip at the colonial landmark Strand Hotel and enjoy a coffee or tea in the Strand Café.

Day 15 - Yangon via flight


Check-out of your hotel no later than 12:00 noon and transfer (approx. 30mins) to the airport for your onward flight to next destination or returns your home.
